Hizamakura Knee Lap Pillow

The Japanese have come up with a very amusing twist on the body pillow. The pillow is literally in the shape of a body. In this case, this body pillow is called the Hizamakura Knee Lap Pillow. It does appear to be more of a gag body pillow than something you would use to sleep on. That said, this finely sculpted and kneeling legs with lower torso come in your choice of a black or a red miniskirt. The Hizamakura Knee Lap Pillow is made out of Polyurethane and the skirt is a Polyester. The box size is 285mm × 590mm × 285mm and the body pillow weighs 1.9kg.

This is an example of having a little fun and creativity in designing a body pillow and really goes to show the great extent to which pillows can be designed. Although the intention of the Hizamakura Knee Lap Pillow is purely comedic, the point is that it is a new way of conceptualizing the design of a body pillow. Creative designers and engineers will most likely design new and intriguing body pillows so that we as a society can sleep better.

Pillow Are A Health Technologgy

It is important to choose the right pillow for you. Depending on which material, shape and design is used, the correct pillow can offer orthopedic benefits, such as reducing stress on points on the body, which in turn can alleviate soreness of the muscles and joints.

Body pillows have come a long way and there are many different styles and designs that are geared to different people, for example, travel neck pillows, pregnancy pillows, neck support pillows, reading pillows, just to name a few.

Taking, for example, pregnancy pillows which assist pregnant women by helping support joints and muscles, neck and head, back and knees that will assist pregnant women in getting a better night's sleep.

For those of you who suffer from neck pain, specially ergonomically designed neck pillows will help prevent stiff neck and shoulder pain. Support for the head in neck region occurs because the contour of the pillow supports the head and neck by removing pressure points and therefore helping prevent neck strain.

Technology has really revamped the way pillows are designed as well as the accessories that can be built into a pillow. For example, there are pillows with memory foam and pillows with coolants and heated pillows, there are pillows with built-in speakers and even pillows that massage.

Pillows are so much more than just a place to rest your head. Today pillows are useful tools in combating illness and helping those with injuries heal faster. Body pillows are just one way in which you can increase the quality of health too.

Whic Body PIllows Should You Get?

Body Pillows come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and it can be a daunting task choosing the right one for you. Should you get a U shaped body pillows or the Standard l shaped body pillow, and how about the material, should you got with a Memory Foam Body Pillow, Goose Down, or the popular Microbead Body Pillows?

There really is no right or wrong choice, it all comes down to your preference and what feels right to you.

So what's the difference between the different types of body pillows? The difference can be very noticeable.

First, the Moshi or Microbead Body Pillows contain micro-sized beads inside that resist pressure of any kind resulting in that squishy bouncy feel. unlike the Memory foam, Moshi Pillows do not hold a form and therefore may not be the best choice if you are looking for a pillow that will help you keep a fixed position. Moshi Pillows are great though because they feel very nice, and you can squeeze them for every, kids really love them.

Goose Down Pillows contain the soft feathers from the Geese Breast area, the same area that Geese use to keep their eggs warm. The Goose Down feathers are very soft and retain heat very well, the down is de-quilled and you do not need to worry about being pinched by a shaft or quill. It is recommended that you dry clean the goose down pillows once a year.

Memory Foam is my favorite, but you need to be very particular about this type of Body Pillow because not all memory foam is created equal. Memory Foam, also known as visco elastic material, was developed by Nasa for their astronauts and has since been brought into the consumer market. I prefer memory foam that isn't too rigid, you should provide a comfortable level of Resistance as it uniformally molds around each pressure point. Memory foam can provide you with a very good level of support, but they also tend to cost the most.

Lastly, choose the body pillows that are right for you, don't spend anymore than you need to stay comfortable. Body Pillows are excellent and are something that everyone should consider but aren't for everyone. Try them out first and make your decision from there, but I'm sure most agree, body pillows can by the best type of pillow..
